On Wednesday, 26 August 2026, the Chairperson of the National Independent Human Rights Commission (NIHRC), Dr. Maryan Qasim Ahmed, met with the Minister of Family and Human Rights, Ms. Khadija Mohamed Al-Maqsuumi.
The Chairperson and the Minister held a mutual briefing meeting, discussing ways to develop and strengthen the protection of human rights in Somalia.
Both sides also discussed the responsibilities and priorities facing their respective institutions, and ways to further strengthen cooperation and collaboration on advancing human rights and protecting the rights of citizens.
The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing on the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two institutions to further advance the protection of human rights in Somalia.
